Decorative Umbrella: "Sparrow Dance"
The Gion Festival, which colors Kyoto's summer.
This festival, with over a thousand years of history,
has stories and wishes embedded in each of its yamaboko floats.
This summer, inspired by its beautiful designs and history,
we have created decorative umbrellas through the handwork of Kyoto wagasa craftsmen.

Decorative Umbrella "Sparrow Dance"
This decorative umbrella is themed after the "Sparrow Dance" performed by geiko and maiko of Gion Kobu, one of the dedicatory dances of the Hanagasa Junko parade.

Incorporating the auspicious "bamboo and sparrows" pattern also found on kimonos,
it expresses a brilliant and propitious worldview.
The "kappa" (umbrella finial) adorned on the top of the umbrella seems as if a dancer is performing with a hat in hand.
With "chun chun" and
the sound of the Sparrow Dance's calls seemingly echoing, this piece evokes the scenery of Kyoto.

These exquisite pieces depict the scenery of the Gion Festival, which symbolizes Kyoto's summer,
within a small decorative umbrella.
Please enjoy them as seasonal decorations in your home or as gifts for loved ones.
