Experience Kyoto's Traditions

Over more than a thousand years, skills and ingenuity of countless artisans have gradually shaped the wagasa (traditional Japanese umbrella) into the form we know today. Using familiar materials like bamboo and Japanese paper, repairing them when broken, and continuing to use them, this is a wisdom born from living in harmony with nature, reflecting the way of life of the Japanese since ancient times. Why this shape, Why these materials? By paying attention, you may begin to see the relationship between craftsmanship and daily life in a slightly different light. See, touch, feel - through the wagasa, we hope you can take a moment to reflect on the relationship between objects and everyday life. We sincerely look forward to welcoming you to our workshop experience.
