Industrial Design Utilizing the Structure of Kyo-wagasa
"MOTO" is a sister brand of "KOTORI," a pendant lamp that applies Kyo-wagasa techniques.
While utilizing the umbrella-like framework, steel and ABS resin are used instead of bamboo and Washi paper to create a modern style.
By creating a skeleton structure without fabric, the beauty of the framework expresses a light and airy aesthetic.
Control the Opening and Closing Angle of the Shade to Freely Create Light
"MOTO", which means "movement" in Italian, is characterized by its ability to freely change the opening and closing angle of the shade by manually raising and lowering the stainless steel ring at the bottom of the main body.
You can enjoy various silhouettes, from a wide spread to a straight cylinder and a narrowing bottom.
While it has a strong presence when used alone,
in large spaces, multiple units can be arranged to create an artistic accent.
Gentle 60W, a Highlight for Your Interior
This product is a 60W specification with modest brightness.
It emits a gentle light inside a cylindrical silicone lamp cover, helping to create a moody atmosphere.
Awarded the World-Renowned German iF Design Award
"MOTO" was born in 2010, four years after the debut of Hiyoshiya's best-seller "KOTORI."
The catalyst was Hiyoshiya's experience at its first exhibition in North America in 2009.
While "KOTORI," which utilized bamboo and Washi paper, was favorably received in Europe,
North American buyers suggested that it could be made with more modern materials.
Thus, a new product development project began with the cooperation of designer Issei Miyake, branding directors, and coordinators.
After much trial and error, "MOTO" was unveiled and received the "Good Design Award" in 2010,
as well as the iF Product Design Award (Germany), considered one of the most prestigious design awards in the world.
