The Gion Festival brings vibrant color to Kyoto’s summer.

With a history spanning more than a thousand years, it is filled with stories and wishes embodied in each of its festival floats (Yamahoko).

Inspired by the beautiful design and rich history of these floats, Hiyoshiya has created a series of small decorative wagasa (traditional Japanese umbrellas) each of them meticulously handcrafted by Kyoto artisans.

Tsukihoko is renowned as a float dedicated to the deity of the moon, and has long been associated with wishes for protection from misfortune, good health, and longevity.

This umbrella features a depiction of the Tsukihoko float, evoking the lively atmosphere of Kyoto’s lantern-lit evenings during the Gion Festival.
