A journey where a craftsman meets a craftsman
KISEN Takaoka copperware Yotsukawa Seisakusho, / 高岡銅器 Takaoka copperware Toyama

Takaoka City in Toyama Prefecture has a rich tradition of craftsmanship that spans over 400 years. The Kanaya-machi district, the birthplace of the famous Takaoka copperware, is home to Yotsukawa Seisakusho, a renowned copperware manufacturer that has been in business for generations. At Yotsukawa Seisakusho, we design, create, and sell various metal craft items that enrich daily life, including flower vases, incense burners, ornaments, and iron kettles. The trade name 'Kisen,' passed down since our founding, embodies our commitment to bringing joy and enrichment to people's lives -  a sentiment that continue to inspire all our products today.

All Started with 「喜泉」(Kisen)

Yotsukawa Seisakusho Ltd. was founded in 1946, shortly after the end of World War II, in the renowned metalworking district of Kanaya-machi in Takaoka City. It all began when the first-generation master, Yosaburo, started producing vases under the trade name ‘Kisen’. In its early days, the company had focused on manufacturing brass castings and iron castings for mass production.

Amid significant changes in people's lives during the period of rapid economic growth, Yotsukawa Seisakusho upheld its commitment to excellence in manufacturing and dedication to craftsmanship. The founding belief in 'creating beautiful, high-quality products with ingenuity' has been passed down to the third generation, represented by the two brothers, President Motomasa and Executive Director Susumu.

From '喜泉' to KISEN'

KISEN is a Takaoka copperware brand that caters to modern lifestyles. Following the societal shifts after Japan's economic bubble burst in the early 1990s, Yotsukawa Seisakusho explored the potential of Takaoka copperware not just as decorative items but for everyday use. This vision led to the launch of the KISEN brand.

Drawing on their deep understanding of local production capabilities and metal characteristics, brothers Motomasa and Susumu led a project where Susumu himself designed the new products. This initiative resulted in the creation of one of their flagship products, the 'Guinomi Sake Cup.'

By blending tradition and technology with creative ideas, KISEN products utilize metals in innovative ways, offering excitement and new value.
