A Masterful New Challenge in Cosmetic Brushes

With a history of over 90 years, Muragishi Sangyo has taken on a new venture in the realm of cosmetic brushes. Drawing on the artisanal expertise of brush making that dates back to the Edo period, this Hiroshima-based company has rejuvenated the tradition of Kumano brushes to align with contemporary demands. The cosmetic brushes created by Muragishi Sangyo are characterized by soft bristles that provide a gentle touch against the skin, making them a favorite among many.

Through our involvement in the « Contemporary Kyoto » project organized by the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we were pleased to extend our support. Ms. Naoko Muragishi, the fourth-generation CEO overseeing the Kumano Brush Series project, previously established herself as a designer for a prominent underwear manufacturer before continuing the family legacy.

Crafted by Brush Experts: Unveiling a Novel Brush Series

The adept techniques refined in cosmetic brush craftsmanship have given birth to the Bath Brush Series. Available in various sizes, these brushes cater to the preferences of both men and women, covering a range from larger formats to those designed for meticulous detailing.

The Kumano brush series was developed in collaboration with Ms. Muragishi through the « Contemporary Kyoto » project.

The design takes inspiration from the foundational cylindrical shape, embracing simplicity and modernity, akin to the circular structures prevalent in medieval Europe, which inspired the name "Rotanda."

Moreover, the bristles incorporate a blend of synthetic and goat hair, meticulously selected to align with Ms. Muragishi's vision of being "pleasant to the touch" and having "quick-drying properties." These products have emerged from the passionate dedication of a collective of brush professionals.

The Kumano Body Brush and Facial Cleansing Brush achieved notable success through crowdfunding, continuing to chart new territories in pursuit of innovation.
