Tobe ware, designated as a traditional handicraft by the Japanese government, originates from Tobe, the largest pottery village in Shikoku, and has flourished since the Edo period (1603-1868). The production of Tobe ware began when high-quality 'Iyoto' whetstone was mined and utilized for pottery making. Known for its thickness and sturdiness, Tobe ware is ideal for daily use and has been cherished by both locals and visitors alike.
