Unzanyo is a pottery studio located in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture, which is renowned for its beautiful pottery. Shigaraki is one of the "Rokko-yo" (Six Ancient Kilns), a historic region famous for producing pottery and ceramics.
The distinctive feature of Unzanyou's works lies in the ability to maintain traditional techniques while incorporating highly refined designs. Especially remarkable are the beautiful tableware and lighting fixtures made from a white, translucent clay known as "Shigaraki To-ki" (Shigaraki Translucent Porcelain), which allows light to pass through.
