Tamiya Raden from the Tango region in northern Kyoto Prefecture,
weaves a special fabric called "Raden Ori" (mother-of-pearl weaving) with the « Hiki-Baku » technique primarily used for traditional Japanese obi (sashes).
With this highly original weaving technique, Mr. Tamiya has accomplished numerous collaborations with luxury brands worldwide, making him one of Japan's top textile artisans who has made significant contributions to the international recognition and awareness of the TANGO brand.
In recent years, he has not only used seashells but also leather, wood, bamboo, resin, and other astonishingly creative materials to produce innovative textiles. His work has gained worldwide recognition and he continues to be an international player.
