Kyoto dolls have their roots in the noble culture of the Heian period (794-1192).
They have developed into exquisite products through the division of labor. In 2012, Gensho Miyake, the second generation doll dresser, is responsible for the final stage of the labor division.
Using the traditional techniques of the May dolls’ armor, he presented the "Samurai Armor Bag" at"KYOTO Contemporary", an overseas expansion support project by the City of Kyoto. The bag series, which has since been brushed up and perfected since then, continues to be popular both in Japan and abroad.
